The record is public. The receipts are held. Both are checkable.
Every work below has two layers. The open layer — its record card and fingerprint
manifest — is readable by anyone — openly licensed, downloadable, readable offline, no key, no account: built to outlive this website. The locked box — the
working files behind that record, scoped and named in its manifest — is published here in encrypted form: anyone can
download it and verify its fingerprint, but its contents open only with the author's key.
One honest detail, stated rather than discovered: the file names inside a locked box are readable by anyone — the list is the window; the contents are what the key seals. The author keeps the key; the evidence is producible on request. That is the standard's
evidence commitment, made physical.

A file matching its fingerprint is byte-for-byte the file that existed on sealing day. A seal proves listed files unchanged; it never proves the record was complete when sealed.
The working files of the paper through v8.2 — every draft version v6–v8.2, the annotated Perplexity review, the build script, the working notes, and the work's INDEX — fifteen files, exactly the set named in the manifest above, in one AES-256-encrypted archive. The deposited editions (v8.3, v8.4) live permanently at the DOI above and are not inside this box; they join it at the vault's next sealed version. What the vault holds is disclosed by the author's choice; what the holdings say is held. Opening it requires 7-Zip or a compatible tool (free) — plus the key.
Download the locked box (7z, 1.1 MB) →SHA-256 of the box:
0f02f2554ed8a3d30dff7ee2fc105bb375f6e37012ef63eb1f338f0be27058ab
Also held in the permanent archive: this same box (identical bytes, same fingerprint) is deposited with the paper at its Zenodo record (v8.5, 2026-08-05) — so the sealed evidence outlives this website.
What each fingerprint proves — stated exactly. The box's SHA-256 above verifies the encrypted archive you downloaded is the one published here. The per-file fingerprints in the manifest verify each evidence file — but only once a file is produced and in your hands. Before production, no public check can prove what the sealed box contains; that proof arrives file by file, as the author produces records against a scoped request, each checkable against the manifest. Stated limits are part of the standard.
The key. It exists only in the author's custody and is never held by any company, service, or AI. A private recovery arrangement exists so that loss of the author does not mean loss of the evidence; its details are not published.

This box holds the work's INDEX, its record link, and editions v3.2 and v3.3 in Word and PDF — seven files, exactly the set named in the manifest above plus the manifest itself, in one AES-256-encrypted archive. The intermediate drafts were not retained; this record is thin by honest admission — the record card, the published editions, and nothing between. The vault carries its own honesty page saying exactly that. Opening it requires 7-Zip or a compatible tool (free) — plus the key.

William Stafford · LI-AIast5 · published record — DOI 10.5281/zenodo.21609678 (concept — always resolves to the newest version)
Thin record, openly labeled · card public · manifest 7 files, sealed 2026-08-04 · box published + deposited at the DOI · production: author-controlled · latest edition v1.3
The work record as a readable card in the Earned Trust Reader, plus the seal manifest: every file in the vault, named and fingerprinted on sealing day. (The manifest itself is excluded from its own seal, as seal manifests must be.)

Editors, reviewers, and readers with a genuine question may request evidence at William@earnedtrust.org. Per the standard, requests are answered in scope: name the claim you are examining, and the author produces the records bearing on that claim — each one verifiable against the published manifest above. The author rules on every request; the record shows the rulings. Absence of a request, and absence of a vault, prove nothing about anyone — this system documents honest process; it is not a presumption of guilt about work that lacks one.
